The Role

Reporting to the HR Manager, the Human Resources Officer will be responsible for coordinating the Cookstown site's strategic initiatives, including but not limited to leadership development, employee engagement, operational performance management, onboarding and employee development.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with site teams to understand operations, shift patterns, benefits, and pay structures.
  • Identify changes to improve efficiency, streamline processes, and boost engagement.
  • Maintain strong union relationships and effectively manage collective bargaining and grievances.
  • Provide a responsive HR function to address employee issues promptly and legally, reducing litigation risks.
  • Support line managers in applying disciplinary and grievance procedures fairly.
  • Develop initiatives to enhance employee engagement and communication.
  • Implement and update HR policies, consistent absence management, and ethical standards (Sedex, Smeta).
  • Ensure compliance for audit readiness and identify required training for all roles.
  • Guide managers on HR issues, supporting them through challenges to mitigate business risks.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Third-level qualification in HR, business studies, or a related field
  • CIPD membership or equivalent recognized HR qualification
  • Minimum of 2 years as an HR officer in a fast-paced setting
  • Solid understanding of NI employment legislation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong communication, organization, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with strict confidentiality and strong attention to detail
  • Motivation to advance within the HR field
