The National Screening Service (NSS) delivers four national population-based screening programmes – for cervical, breast and bowel screening and for detecting sight-threatening retinopathy in people with diabetes.

About the role:

We are accepting applications for an experienced Quality Assurance Coordinator to join the National Diabetic Retinal and the National Bowel Screening Programme on a permanent basis in our central office based in Dublin. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement and uphold best practice quality assurance standards within the Quality Assurance Framework of NSS and Screening Programme.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee quality assurance and compliance function within BowelScreen and Diabetic RetinaScreen,
  • Support the co-ordination and management of complaints and feedback to the Programme in collaboration with NSS complaints manager in line with HSE Your Service Your Say Policy.
  • Develop and promote best practice; with appropriate engagement across all stakeholders (internally and externally) within the Quality Assurance Framework of NSS and the Screening Programme.
  • Support the administration of the Programme’s Quality Assurance Committee and the National Screening Service Quality Safety and Risk Committee.
  • Lead the further development, implementation and monitoring of Quality Assurance within the Programme in line with national policies and guidance, new developments, statutory / legislative requirements and corporate objectives.
  • Lead in the development, implementation, review and monitoring of specific Quality Assurance methodologies such as the internal and external auditing process, key performance indicators
  • Lead in the collation, analysis and interpretation of data (e.g., key performance indicators, quality improvement plans) to monitor and evaluate quality assurance/ adopted as indicators of Quality Assurance impact /effectiveness.
  • Assist in the development of the Quality, Safety and Risk aspects of service level agreements/ Memorandum of Understanding (MOU’s).
  • Assist and support the development of appropriate Quality Improvement Plans where standards and KPI’s are not being achieved within the Quality Assurance Standards.
  • Assist and support the development of risk assessments where issues and potential risks are identified which may impact on the implementation of the

The person:

  • An academic award in Quality Management at level 7 (or higher) on the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) or equivalent or have commenced on an academic course to achieve such award.

Or

  • 2 years relevant experience of working in a Quality Assurance role at managerial level within a Health Service.

Or

  • A professional qualification in a health-related area

And

  • Experience of working with Quality Management Systems
  • Experience of developing, implementing and maintaining standards, policies, procedures and guidelines and monitoring compliance with same, as relevant to the role
