Geotechnical Engineer
Irish Drilling Ltd, an RSK Group company have a vacancy for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join them in Co. Galway.
This position offers good hybrid or remote working. This is a full time, permanent position (subject to 6 months’ probation). This is a full-time, permanent position.
Irish Drilling Ltd. is a Site Investigation and Geotechnical Services company with over 35 years of experience in the industry. Having recently been acquired by the RSK group, further opportunities are opening up and the soil and rock testing laboratory is getting busier.
Responsibilities:
- Completing and managing geotechnical projects from cradle to grave including desk studies and ground investigation phases, through to the production of interpretive reports, planning & design advice, detailed design and specification, works supervision and verification.
- Design, supervision and management of ground investigation and construction works.
- Earthworks materials assessment, design, specification, supervision and verification.
- Technical review of desk study, ground investigation reports and associated documents and/or geotechnical design reports (PSSR,GIR/GDR/GFR), basement impact assessments, earthworks specifications etc.
- Project management
- Preparation of site investigation reports
- Carrying out of tests on sites
- Supervision of drilling crews
- Logging of trial pits and trenches
Qualifications and Experience:
- BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering
- or a related subject.
- MSc in Engineering Geology/Geotechnical Engineering or Soil/Rock Mechanics (but not essential for all roles).
- Chartered Geologist, Scientist or Engineer with a relevant professional body or working towards chartership (but not essential for all roles as training to support mire junior professional applicants given)
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field, ideally to Masters level
- Computer literacy for data input and reporting
- Full clean drivers licence
- Team player with flexible attitude
- Excellent report writing skills
- Ability to commute to Loughrea, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm
