Fire Safety Officer, Grade VII
Purpose of the Role:
· The purpose of this role is to ensure CHI is fully compliant with the latest Building Regulations, Fire Safety Legislation, Health, and Safety Legislation.
· To facilitate compliance with the corporate Fire Safety Policy and site specific Fire Management Plans and associated processes, policies and legislation within Children’s Health Ireland.
· To ensure compliance with mandatory legislative standards relating to Fire Safety
· To provide specialist advice, guidance and instruction regarding fire safety matters to the EFMS, Heads of Departments, supervisors and staff and to assist CHI management in ensuring that the high standards of fire safety as dictated by Children’s Health Ireland are met.
· To advise and support management in setting up, maintaining and improving systems that underpin an effective integrated fire safety governance system within CHI.
Essential Criteria:
- CPD accredited Certification or Diploma level in Fire Safety Management.
- Knowledge and expertise of the requirements pertaining to fire prevention measures, fire protection systems, fire mitigation and suppression techniques, emergency response protocols, building design, construction specifications and evacuation procedures.
- Experience of working with architects, engineers, facility managers and local authorities to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations.
- A thorough understanding of the various fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, smoke control systems and emergency lighting
- Strong working knowledge of the Building Regulations, Fire Services Acts 2013 and 2018 and the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2019.
- Evidence of excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills.
- Excellent administration and organisation skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work to deadlines and work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
- Ability to deal with Service Users and colleagues across all CHI sites in a compassionate and supportive manner with an emphasis on a high level of customer service.
- Willingness to attend further training as required to remain up to date with fire safety requirements.
