Permanent Part Time (17.5 Hrs per week)

This is an exciting opportunity for Early Intervention Specialists (EIS) to join the Kilbarrack Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) to support children who present with complex needs arising from a combination of intellectual, physical, and/or sensory disabilities

The Early Intervention Specialist (EIS) is a valuable member of the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) who will provide a quality evidence-based service in line with family centred practice and Progressing Disability Services (PDS) principles.

Working within a large supportive inter-disciplinary team across a variety of clinical settings the EIS will provide a combination of direct and targeted supports to children and their families. The EIS will be part of a large, vibrant, EIS Department across St. Michael’s House.

Salary for this post is at Senior Therapy Grade.

Working within a large inter-disciplinary team across a variety of clinical settings the EIS will provide a combination of universal, direct and targeted supports to children and their families.

The ideal candidate must:

Possess a qualification in one of the following;

Degree in Early Childhood Education, R.N.I.D, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Speech & Language Therapy, Social Work or other related discipline

  • Have 5 years post qualification experience working with children with a variety of complex needs including Intellectual Disability, Autism, and Physical Disability.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of child development, and early years intervention
  • Experience of using early education programmes
  • Have excellent communication and IT skills

Desirable criteria:

  • Be a car owner with a full clean driving licence and prepared to drive for work purposes
  • Training relevant to children’s disability services e.g. Lámh, AAC, Neurodiversity, EarlyBird

The role will involve:

· Working within the interdisciplinary model of the CDNT

  • Providing universal, targeted and direct supports to children and families (0-6 years) who are in receipt of services from the CDNT
  • Being key worker for families of children (0-6 years)
  • Facilitating Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP)
  • Supporting key transitions
  • Providing family and staff training
  • Supporting preschool support workers and community preschools
  • Collaborating with early years education facilities and other key stakeholders in supporting children’s learning, development and wellbeing.
