The Role 
Role of Director of the Guardian ad litem (GAL) National Service
Applications are sought from dynamic and innovative individuals who are passionate about improving the lives of children in Ireland by ensuring the voice and best interests of children are always at the heart of each set of public child care proceedings. This is a permanent position.

​​​​​​​The Director will be responsible for the set-up, leadership and management of the GAL National Service and related commencement of the Child Care (Amendment) Act 2022.

Following appointment, the immediate priority for the Director of the GAL National Service will be to develop a detailed project plan for the building of the new service. Subsequently the Director will be responsible for the set-up of the service, including contribution to the safe exit from current arrangements so that there is an appropriate handover of all assets, functions and people from existing providers to the new National Service. This complex process needs to be ably co-ordinated and will be one of the first tasks of the Director. In overseeing the planning and implementation of the new service the Director will manage the recruitment of staff and the key work streams set out in the transition plan.​​​​​​​
