Job Purpose

Working with the Elected Members, the Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive and other members of the Executive Management Team to provide leadership and focus for the development of the Council as described in its vision and corporate plan.

Influencing national and regional policy by effective lobbying to maintain the position of the Council as a leading local authority in Northern Ireland.

Developing targeted, strategic partnerships to build the capacity of the organisation so that it can achieve its vision and deliver excellent services.

The post holder will be expected to be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs and requirements of the organisation, and duties and responsibilities may vary without changing the purpose of the job or level of responsibility. This includes leading on initiatives and undertaking duties of a similar nature and responsibility as and when required and directed by the Chief Executive or Deputy Chief Executive.

The Job Description has been designed to reflect the multi-faceted dimension and complexity of Director posts and it is predicated on a changing environment, therefore flexibility and review is a potential element.

The Director of Regulatory Services, Facilities & Assets has responsibility for leading on effective service delivery in Environmental Health; Planning Services; Building Control and Estates and Asset Management Services. This will include delivering on the Council’s Capital Programme and taking on the role of Senior Responsible Officer on major capital build projects.
