Clinical Nurse Specialist / Manager Neurology Service Parkinsons

Job Purpose:

The role of the Clinical Nurse Specialist/CNM 2 for Neurology is to provide safe, efficient and effective care to patients with neurological conditions with a focus on Parkinson’s Disease (PD)/ Movement Disorders. S/he will be part of a Multidisciplinary team involved in the assessment and management of care to this patient cohort. As a clinical specialist, s/he will guide, support and educate staff nurses, other health care professionals, patients and their families to promote quality care. The candidate will engage in continuing professional development, research and audit to ensure advanced, developed and best practice. The candidate will adhere to local policies, procedures and guidelines. S/he will promote and develop services in line with the National Clinical Care Program for Neurology.

PD/Movement Disorders are a group of neurological conditions that cause abnormal movements (such as tremors, tics, chorea, dystonia) or slowness of movement (such as in Parkinsonism). Parkinson disease (PD) is one of the most common conditions that causes problems with movement, mental health, sleep, pain and other health issues in the area of Movement Disorders
