There are currently two permanent, whole-time vacancies available in University Hospital Limerick.

A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Clinical Nurse Manager 2 – Sepsis

HSE Mid West from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.

Purpose of the Post

The purpose is to inform and guide healthcare staff in the recognition, treatment and appropriate referral of patients with sepsis with the intention of:

• Improving sepsis recognition through awareness, education & training, audit and implementation of national clinical guidelines.
• Ensuring that staff are educated to recognise patients with sepsis have ‘Sepsis 6’
• performed within one hour of sepsis recognition, identify patients with septic shock
• and escalate care as appropriate
• Reducing mortality and morbidity from sepsis in Ireland
• Reducing the economic burden of sepsis
• Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Sepsis) will have a pivotal role in the education and support of all grades of staff in UL Hospitals in the implementation of the Sepsis/EWS Guidelines. The post holder will act as a liaison between Nursing and Medical Staff to deliver effective evidence based care, using resources efficiently to achieve the best possible outcomes.
