Chief Physicist - Physiological Measurement and Clinical Engineering Leadership

Purpose of the Role:

The enduring role of this Chief Physicist will be to provide a leadership role in the new HTM department for development of Clinical Engineering and Physiological Measurement supporting all hospital medical equipment including diagnostic, analytical, therapeutic, surgical, and life support systems in Children’s Health Ireland Group.

Essential Criteria:

Candidates must,

(a)

i. hold a recognised first or second-class honours degree in which Physics was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject.

or

hold a recognised first or second-class honours degree in Electrical/Electronic / Mechanical/Clinical Engineering

and

ii. hold a postgraduate (M.Sc. or PhD.) degree in Medical Physics / Clinical Engineering.

Or

iii. Hold a recognised qualification at least equivalent to (i) and (ii) above.

(b) have at least ten years satisfactory experience, (at least three of which were at Principle Physics level or equivalent senior management level), in one or more of the following fields:- Clinical Engineering, Hospital Medical Equipping, Medical Equipment Interoperability, Medical Physics.

(c) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and administrative capacity) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
