Location of Post:

There is currently one permanent whole-time vacancy available in St Davnets Production Kitchen,

St Davnet’s Complex, Rooskey, Monaghan.

A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Chef I, CH CDLMS Cavan Monaghan, from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.

Details of Service:

  • St Davnets Catering Provides 650 meals a day to off site locations
  • Client Base includes Rehabilation, Elderly Care, Mental Health, Staff Canteens, Community Based Groups, Meals-On-Wheels and Hospitality

All food products are produced, delivered and consumed daily.

All food produced is based on standard recipies.

The department opens at 7.00am and finishes at 4.30pm 7 days per week.

Reporting Relationship: The post holder will report to The Catering Officer.

Eligibility Criteria Qualifications and/ or experience:

1. Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc

(a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:

(i) Have obtained a Professional Cookery award at minimum Level 6 on National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) or equivalent maintained by the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).

Or

(ii) Have obtained an equivalent qualification to (i) from another jurisdiction.

Or

(iii) Be currently employed as a Chef in the Irish Health Service.

And

(b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and professional ability, for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

3. Health

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of

undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would

indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service

4. Character

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

Post Specific Requirements:

The Chef I must complete the following course as recommended by the Environmental Health Officer

  • Management of Food Safety (HACCP) Level 3

If the successful candidate has not completed this course he/she will be required to do so and the necessary training will be provided.
