Job Overview
The Business Excellence Division within NSAI Certification provides a range of third-party certification activities to a broad range of industry sectors primarily in Ireland. Typically, the certification management schemes delivery to industry include ISO 9001 (The Quality Management System), ISO 14001 (the Environmental Management System), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System), and ISO 27001 (Information Security Management System).

Certification activities operate to ISO 17021:2011, the international standard for third party certification. NSAI Certification is accredited to this standard by INAB (Irish National Accreditation Board). In addition, NSAI Certification competes in Best-in-Class benchmarking audits undertaken by the World Body for National Certification organisations IQNET. 

The Cyber Security Certification Officer is responsible for developing and maintaining the internal expertise in certification methodology compliant with EU cybersecurity certification schemes. The Engineer will contribute to the internal expertise certification and accreditation, developing and maintaining the tools and techniques to optimize such processes. The role will also involve auditing work. Applicants should have significant technical expertise in ICT products, processes and services (from chip to cloud) and will be expected to apply their knowledge to a high degree.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • To undertake, as part of a team, the security certification (review process) of ICT products, processes and services including site auditing and accreditation/authorization processes.
  • Conduct the above certification audits and product reviews including the preparation of the associated pre and post audit documentation in accordance with all NSAI procedures.
  • Conduct technical file reviews of certification audit and product review documentation to support the Business Unit in granting and amending client’s certifications and approvals.
  • Support the activities necessary to implement, monitor and maintain scheme specific product approval and certification activities in support of the maintenance of NSAI scheme accreditations/designations.
  • Remain abreast of regulatory and accreditation scheme changes which may affect NSAI product approval and certification services via on-going education, training, conferences, lectures, meetings, or memberships as appropriate.
  • To undertake the development of tools, techniques or procedures improvement to optimise security certifications in compliance with EU Cybersecurity Certification schemes.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of matters relating to clients’ operations.
  • Promote the product approval and certification service through the dissemination of information by correspondence, lectures and publications or otherwise as the opportunity arise.
  • To undertake report writing and reviewing duties.
  • To represent the CAB (Conformity Assessment Bodies) in industry forums, produce and deliver technical papers and assist major partnership opportunities, particularly in the certification field.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of matters relating to NSAI and business operations.
  • Undertake the role of training and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Perform any other duties as may be required by the Head of the Department.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
  • Successful completion of a university or a technical college degree or equivalent qualification in relevant studies (NFQ level 8 or above) e.g., cybersecurity, computer science, engineering or other relevant sciences
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a developer or analyst of secure ICT products and/or processes
  • Excellent working knowledge ICT Security Standards, Regulations and Requirements.

Desirable
  • Industry certifications relevant to the role, e.g., CISSP, CRISC, CISM etc.
  • Training or qualification as an ISO 27001 Management System Auditor or Lead Auditor
  • Knowledge of management systems and related standards and guidance documents

Technical Competencies
  • Good knowledge of ICT security (at least in cryptography and security by design processes) and good understanding of software and hardware technologies
  • Have moderate software coding/modelling skills in preferred languages: C, C++, Java, Python.
  • Experience of developing procedures and processes
  • Ability to provide training to stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Ability to draw up records and reports.
