Casual Living History Intrepreter
Salary: Scale 2 SCP 5 £12.85 per hour JOB PURPOSE: The post of Casual Living History Interpreter will require a high level of customer service, and ability to deal with and resolve issues using personal and professional judgement, building relationships with officers at all levels and promoting the profile of Armagh City and District Council. To provide costumed performances to visitors of all ages and abilities and to provide historic craft sessions with children. The post-holder will adopt a flexible and cooperative approach to the duties outlined below. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provide costumed performances in a professional manner and to demonstrate historic crafts and activities as required, both on and off site. 2. Accept responsibility for costume maintenance such as making sure that Costumes are properly stored, cleaned and restored. 4. Assist with morning set-up and evening clearance of Living History areas and, to maintain the Living History performance areas and clean these as designated. 5. Participate in marketing initiatives both on and off site as designated. 6. Conduct historical research as required. 3. Deliver historic craft sessions as required . 4. Participate fully in Centre developments. 5. Assist with day to day operational of the Navan Centre, for example, room set up and cleaning, responding to general administrative duties . 7. Provide reception duties to include operation of “point of sale”, daily cash reconciliation, ticket sales, shop sales etc. as required. 8. Participate in other Living History programmes such as external events, schools’ delivery, Signature events for the Borough. 9. Adhere to financial procedures set out for all Council Tourism Facilities 10. Observe security and health and safety procedures at all times. 11. Undertake any other relevant duties that may be required and are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post. Experience
ESSENTIAL
- Six months’ acting experience (this may include amateur dramatic organisations/drama societies or groups);
- Six months’ experience dealing with members of the public.
Key skills, knowledge and attributes
- High Level of Communication skills;
- Ability to perform in public setting.
Working Arrangements/Flexibility Hours will be offered on an ‘as and when required’ basis only and will vary according to requirements. Continuing offers of work whilst on this register will be conditional on satisfactory performance and availability. Preference will be given to candidates who can provide the highest degree of availability. Regular hours cannot be guaranteed and payment will be made for hours worked only.
