Associate Apprentice Engineer, Quality

Position Summary:

This position provides the Associate Apprentice Engineer, as part of their formal on the job training and college studies, the experience of working within the Quality department of a regulated medical device company. Under close supervision, the apprentice will provide basic Quality process support to a project or function.

What You Will Do:

  • Under supervision, assist Engineers in providing basic design, technical and operational support to manufacturing processes in connection with the Quality System Improvement Plan.
  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practice, system safety and promotion of compliance.
  • Monitors performance of equipment, machines and tools and corrects equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields or product quality issues.
  • Interface with Materials Science, Design and Quality Assurance departments to provide customer with a quality product in a timely manner.
  • Supports Engineers in the Validation, Appraisal and support of process and material suppliers as required.
  • Participate in FMEA and PPAP activities associated with product transfers and launches
  • Under supervision, support capital acquisition activity from specifying equipment, contract negotiation, Installation and validation
  • Communicate and participate in system and process troubleshooting with support team members and with external agents.
  • Participate in cross-functional and cross divisional process improvement initiatives.
  • Apply project management methodologies and Kaizen improvement philosophy to manage production, product, design, process and systems improvements.
  • Provision of out-of-hours support to the business as required by management or as mandated by shutdowns and/or equipment failures.
  • Participates in project updates and workshops and presents at the relevant review forums.
  • All other duties as assigned

What You Will Need:

  • Pass (Grade 06 or better) in five leaving certificate subjects, 2 of which must be Maths and a language (English or Irish).
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment an advantage.
  • Broad general engineering acumen and familiarity with equipment's and manufacturing processes
  • High level of PC Skills required.
  • Strong communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capable of working as part of a multi-disciplined team in a fast paced regulated environment.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical & problem
  • solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively work cross-functionally
  • Capable of working autonomously
  • Fosters a working environment of continuous improvement.
  • All other duties as assigned.
