Overview

The Assistant restaurant manager reports to the restaurant manager and the restaurant directors in relation to the daily operations of the restaurant. The incumbent coordinates daily restaurant management operations, delivers superior food and beverage service and maximizes customer satisfaction, responds efficiently and accurately to customer complaints, ensures efficient restaurant operations as well maintaining optimum production, productivity, quality and customer-service standards and ensures that the restaurant and deli achieve the maximum financial potential.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily Front of House and Back of House restaurant operations
  • Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction
  • Respond efficiently and accurately to customer complaints
  • Operate a POS system and monitor staff utilization of the POS system and provide training
  • Arrange for the routine maintenance and upkeep of restaurant equipment and facilities
  • Liaise with the Head Chef in formulating supply stock orders
  • Monitor retail stock and follow good FIFO procedures
  • Responsible for tracking deliveries
  • Checks and audits invoices
  • Coordinates the services of service suppliers such as fire safety, rodent control, haccp audits, grease trap maintenance and first aid
  • Regularly review product quality and discuss with company directors
  • Organize staff rosters and supervise shifts
  • Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to HR
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP and Health & Safety regulations
  • Ensure a well stocked first aid box and coordinate incident reports
  • Control operational costs, monitor waste and identify measures to cut waste
  • Create detailed reports on weekly, monthly and annual revenues and expenses
  • Manage restaurant’s good image and suggest ways to reach a broader audience
  • Monitor and report on restaurant reviews and draft replies
  • Manage in-house events and liaise with client, kitchen and suppliers
  • Train new and current employees on steps of service practices and teach product knowledge
  • Ensure staff conform to company uniform regulations, appearance and haccp
  • Implement policies and protocols to ensure the efficient and effective running of the restaurant

Qualifications

  • Extensive food and beverage (F&B) knowledge, 
  • Strong leadership, motivational and people skills
  • Acute financial management skills
