Assistant Financial Accountant

The Role

We are currently seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant within the support services function joining our team of experienced, motivated and high performing finance professionals. This is a key hire for the Finance team as the company continues to grow. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic professional looking for a new challenge in a dynamic environment. The Assistant Financial Accountant will be required to support the Group Finance team in the preparation, analysis and reporting of the financial and operational performance of the group. The role will support the continuous drive for business growth and assist on the journey of process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare journals and month end process.
  • Assisting with the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts.
  • Apply strong analytical skills to provide insights on commercial activities.
  • Preparation of reconciliations (balance sheet, intercompany, sales & wages etc..).
  • Support audit processes by providing evidence and documentation to auditors.
  • Preparation of periodic VAT returns.
  • Assisting with Corporation Tax compliance matters.
  • Drafting of individual financial statements using Caseware software.
  • Develop strong stakeholder relationships across the business.
  • Provide cross-team support as required.
  • Assist with different ad-hoc projects within the team and department.

Candidate Requirements

  • Accounting technician or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and other ERP systems.
  • High attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to show initiative and assist with process improvements.
  • A team player who thrives in a collaborative, multi-national setting.
  • Proven capability in problem solving and data manipulation.
