Assistant Bed Manager
HSE Mid - West are currently recruiting for the role of Assistant Bed Manager.
Location of the Post
There is currently one temporary whole-time vacancy available in University Hospital
Limerick.
A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Assistant Bed Manager from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.
Purpose of the Post
The Assistant Bed Manager role involves working as part of a dynamic operational team
that supports Patient Flow. The role involves rigorous monitoring of hospital admissions,
discharges and patient movement within the hospital so that accurate information is
gathered to identify bed availability across all wards. It involves maximising capacity
across HSE Mid-West contracted beds and liaising with outside Hospitals to coordinate
transfers. It involves capturing daily data that forms part of the Hospitals performance
metrics.
The successful candidate will, with the support of the multidisciplinary team and internal
and external stakeholders, be responsible for:
- Ensuring the efficient use of hospital beds by working as a member of the operational team with relevant stakeholders.
- Eliminating over-crowding of wards and ED.
- Balancing the demand between Scheduled and Unscheduled care.
- Assisting the Bed Manager and ADON Patient Flow in the management of the Patient Flow Team, Bed Bureau Team, Complex Discharge Coordinators, Patient Flow Coordinators, the Transport Coordinator and the OPAT team.
- Deputising for the Bed Manager as requested.
- Participate in Operational Team Meetings as required.
- Responsible for facilitating communication across the healthcare teams and maintaining open dialogue with other external healthcare facilities.
