Technical SME for Self-Service Data & Reporting Project

As the Technical SME, you will focus on setting priorities and challenging design elements of our self-service and reporting solutions, assessing the technical performance (speed, accuracy) of our current product and generating a development backlog for partners to action.
You will Sign off on solutions from partners as part of the project team and support the Product Owner for Self Service and Reporting in driving a culture of continuous improvement in the product and assessing solutions to reporting challenges around scale.

What You’ll Do:
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skill sets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
  • Design and Architecture: Lead the design of data sources that sit in Tableau, ensuring seamless connections to Teradata, our data warehouse. This includes creating efficient, scalable, and secure data models that meet business requirements. `For Example – challenging the non-normalised (designs), In data source calculations, sparse data issues, methods of security, extract filtering etc.
  • Implementation Oversight: Oversight of the implementation of data integration processes, ensuring that data flows smoothly from Teradata to Tableau. This involves looking at the set-up and maintenance of data connections, as well as optimizing data extraction and transformation processes with the engineering team to deliver.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the product owner, who liaises with the business, to understand priorities and business requirements. Assist in setting priorities, assessing changes, and planning sprints to ensure that the project stays on track and meets its goals.
  • Performance and Reliability: Ensure that the data sources and reporting solutions are performant and effective. This includes monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements as needed.
  • Governance and Best Practices: Establish and enforce data governance policies and best practices to ensure data quality, consistency, and security. This includes defining data standards, monitoring compliance, and addressing any data-related issues that arise.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously monitor and improve the data sources and reporting solutions, incorporating feedback from users and staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
  • Challenge: Provide guidance to the product owner on the impact of changes, making sure that design in the context of increasing data volumes is appropriate and sustainable factoring in 7-10% store growth per year.
What You’ll Bring

  • High Level of Tableau Desktop, Server, Prep and Data source experience essential
  • Familiarity with Relational Database Design and Principles
  • Working in Large Deliveries with large teams
  • Experience with large-scale clients/customers
  • Management of teams responsible for tableau deliveries
