The Role

Uisce Éireann IT (UÉ IT) provides IT services and support to the wider Uisce Éireann business, and across the Local Authority user base. IT Operations is responsible for all operational run activities across Applications, Operational Technology, Service Management and Infrastructure. 

The IT Infrastructure team is responsible for IT/OT infrastructure services to the business across a wide range of functions including maintenance of existing systems and IT/OT infrastructure, release management, configuration management, IT/OT disaster recovery, vendor management, security infrastructure management, IT/OT standards compliance and quality assurance. The team guide resources, facilitate team demand management and capacity planning, and manage the sequencing and operational interdependencies of all IT Operations related initiatives. The infrastructure team also manages the data centres and IT/OT infrastructure for UÉ, including IT availability and IT continuity.

Reporting to the Operational Infrastructure Manager, the Cyber Response Team Technical Lead will be responsible for effectively responding to cyber incidents and safeguarding Uisce Éireann’s digital assets and reputation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the cyber response team during security breaches and incidents
  • Oversee the technical investigation of cyber security incidents to identify root cause and impact
  • Support the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies
  • Build strong relationships with IT colleagues with the aim of optimising cooperation and maximising efficiencies across the wider IT organisation
  • Evaluate, implement and manage cybersecurity tools used for incident detection, response and prevention
  • Complete detailed incident reports to relevant stakeholders
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance the team’s cyber response capabilities
  • Keep up to date on IT issues and developments so that leading practices can be applied

General Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business,including but not limited to;
  • Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards
  • Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives
  • Provide visible leadership for your team, coaching and developing them to achieve their full potential and deliver business objectives, promoting collaboration and highlighting the behaviours that are expected from everyone in the team
  • Other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience in all or some of IT Operations, IT Infrastructure, IT Application management, Process Improvement, Documentation and Documentation Management is desirable. 
  • Involvement in IT DR planning and testing covering a variety of disaster scenarios including natural disasters, major conflict, ransomware and other security threats is desirable.
  • Involvement in the analysis, design and implementation of systems including Infrastructure or Applications or both, is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-team initiatives. 
  • Relevant third level qualification and or accreditation is desirable and or relevant experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable
  • Demonstrated people management experience, with strong people, change management and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience providing coaching in the development of the technical skills and abilities in others
  • Highly motivated individual, working to the highest professional standards and with proven ability to deliver results
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions
  • Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements
  • Proactively identifying new areas of improvement and using newly gained knowledge and skill on the job
