The Role

As a Butcher, you will be responsible for carrying out butchery activities to meet customer and company needs while providing excellent customer service through advice and assistance. You will maintain high hygiene standards, collaborate effectively with colleagues, and work towards achieving sales targets. Additionally, you will help develop the team’s skills and confidence, and assist the store manager and supervisor in daily operations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Preparing different cuts of meat as per customer and company specification
  • Greeting and serving customers.
  • Assisting customers with their purchases and providing product knowledge.
  • Preparation of counter and pre-pack areas.
  • Product sampling.
  • Stock rotation. 
  • Receiving deliveries and completing paperwork required. 
  • Special offer material distribution. 
  • General cleaning.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Previous experience in a retail butchery experience.
  • Proven customer service excellence. 
  • Determination to drive sales. 
  • Knowledge of legal requirements and procedures.
  • Support to deliver and train new people.
  • Deadline focused.
  • Flexible within working hours.
  • Ability to support store manager when not on site and act in a professional manner.
  • Strong communicator.
  • Competent to work well under pressure.
  • A keen interest in developing a career within the trade.
  • The ability to work on own initiative.
